The changing of the seasons from summer to fall is my favorite time of year. Something about the crisp air sparks a sense of nostalgia. I dream of pumpkin spice lattes, a thick wool coat, everything cashmere, knee-high boots, and the excitement of holiday season. A religious habit of mine is an annual cleanse. I go through my closet and clear out all of my spring and summer clothing, bringing my fall/winter clothing to the forefront. I put away my linens, mini dresses, and sandals to make way for my coveted cold weather wardrobe.
It is really easy to spend money when transitioning. With the mass marketing of “transition wardrobes” and new microtrends on social media, the best of us can be convinced to buy a trendy piece. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with buying something trendy, but we should always try to keep our consumption in check, making sure that we are doing our part by supporting sustainable fashion brands and thrifting vintage pieces. Remember, what comes around goes around; everything comes back into trend after a couple of trend cycles. We are seeing the resurgence of leopard print, suede, and denim-on-denim. All of these items probably exist in your wardrobe!
I am a big believer in splurging on basics (obvi, you’re reading on The Basic Belle)! I have tons of clothing, but there are definitely key piece that I’ve acquired over the past 5 years that I always reach for in the fall. My favorite luxury splurges for the fall are always high-quality, durable, classic, and elegant pieces that upgrade my outfit time and time again.
No matter what, fashion is how you define it! Fashion spans person, personality, and society. These are just some of my favorite luxury purchases in the past couple of years that I know I will wear for the rest of my life. Thanks for reading and supporting!
